Fr. Parker was ordained as the first Pastoral Provision priest in 1982. He is the first non-celibate Catholic priest in the United States of the Latin Rite.

Father
Christopher Phillips
On August 15, 1983, a small group of converts from the Episcopal Church was received into the Roman Catholic Church by the Most Reverend Patrick F. Flores, Archbishop of San Antonio, in the Cathedral of San Fernando.

At the same ceremony, the Reverend Christopher G. Phillips, also a convert to the fulness of the Catholic Faith, was ordained by the Archbishop to be their pastor. These eighteen people were the founding members of Our Lady of the Atonement Parish.

Assessments and Certifications
On February 21-22, 2008, six former Episcopal priests and one former Lutheran minister presented themselves for the assessment or certification process.

On May 15, another group of seven will undergo the assessment interview or certification.

It is possible that an additional session may be necessary in September.  The confusion in the Episcopal Church and the continuing Anglican communities in the United States is leading many Episcopal priests to inquire about the Pastoral Provision.  The Catholic bishops of the United States have been very supportive of the Pastoral Provision.
